I am thoroughly excited to know that Greg Cantrell is running as a
candidate for the Greenville County School Board, District 25. I
have known Greg for over 45 years. He held the positions of
music teacher, assistant principal, and principal at Wren Middle
School for over 20 years. In that length of time, he oversaw the
implementation of the SC state testing program, new curriculums,
and new teaching techniques with great success. Greg has the
innate ability to work with teachers to achieve the best results for
students. He continually gave teachers opportunities to grow in
their profession and offered his guidance throughout that journey.
Many of the people on that faculty, me included, took advantage
of that mentorship.
I also had the pleasure of teaching both of his daughters when
they were 8 th grade students at Wren Middle School. Greg was
supportive of his daughters and held them accountable for their
success in class. He expected their teachers to treat them just like
“any other student” with no special privilege just because their
dad was the principal.
I can wholeheartedly support and endorse Dr. Cantrell as he
seeks this position on the school board. He has more than 40
years of experience supporting teachers, students, and schools.
He will make an excellent contribution to ALL in Greenville
County. — Donna Norman
