Meet Greg

Greg Cantrell, a proud native of Southern Greenville County, graduated from Woodmont High School, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Geneal Gilliam. Together, they have been blessed with two daughters and four grandchildren, who are the joy of their lives. Greg attended Lander College where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He then pursued further education at Clemson University, obtaining a master’s degree, and later achieved a doctoral degree from South Carolina State University. Greg’s career in education began as a teacher and coach at Wren Middle School. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Assistant Principal and later serving as Principal for many years. His leadership and dedication led him to Spartanburg District Six, where he served as Director of Personnel, then Assistant Superintendent, Associate Superintendent, and finally Deputy Superintendent. Greg retired in October 2019, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in education.

Greg has served on many committees throughout his career.
